I want Jesus to be my all in all!

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how short this life here on earth is. When you think about eternity, about how you’re going to live forever and ever with the Lord of Host, how small this world seems to be.

A lot of the time I find that I get so caught up with my little activities, I’m focused on things that, in the long run, don’t even matter at all. And yet, when I step back and look at the big picture, all of the earthly material things of this world seem so insignificant.

Continually throughout the scriptures we are reminded of how the Lord is in charge of all things. We are told to have faith in Him, to trust Him, through all circumstances. In my life lately there have been some struggles and it can be hard sometimes to just believe that God has a plan through it all. However, when I keep my focus on the Lord and the advancement of His kingdom, and keep my mind in heavenly things, my “trials” of this world seem to be so minor.

Jesus says in Luke 33-34 to, “Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

Jesus tells us here to sell our possessions and give to the needy. He isn’t demanding that we all be poor, but he is simply pressing the point that we must be generous and not set our hearts on earthly possessions. He says “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Wow, I don’t know about you but this is a pretty big eye-opener.

I want my focus to be so on the Lord that everything around me seems worthless. Not to say that we aren’t to enjoy the gifts God has given us, but nothing should be more precious to us then our relationship with the Lord and the advancement of His kingdom!

I want Jesus to be my all in all!

That's wonderful Des! Sometimes we enjoy something that God has given us, but for the wrong reason(like money). We should learn to glorify God through everything he gives us!
