But it's much different when you're the one going through, and experiencing hard and difficult times. It's easy to get angry, and take out your stress on each other (siblings, parents.. or even sometimes friends). Instead of rejoicing in tribulations and praising God for the blessings He has given you, you can become discontent and angry.
The other day was really tough. I sort of just broke down and gave up. I didn't understand why God was letting some of the things happen that were. Why He wasn't changing the circumstances or answering our "prayers". A part of me was telling myself that He did have a purpose in everything that was happening, but the other part was saying, no, He didn't care.
It's very hard to praise a God whom you are viewing in the wrong light. Once I stepped out of the "pity party" I was having, I realized I was seeing things all wrong! I have a wonderful family, amazing friends, and an incredible God who will never give me more than I can handle! He is with me every step of the way, guiding my life, and sovereignly placed me where I need to be.
Even though the rain might be pouring down, and the thunderstorm seems to never end... We must praise God through the storm! This fits with one of my favorite songs, called "Praise You In The Storm" by Casting Crowns. The Lyrics are so good and impacted me in such a powerful way.
------------
I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who givesAnd takes away
[Chorus:]
And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
[Chorus]
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
[Chorus]
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

Thanks for the post, Destiny. The lyrics to that song, especially the first verse, mean a lot to me. "Storm" seems to be theme for me these days. :)
